Dimitra D. Mitka is a PhD researcher in the Department of Journalism and Mass Media Communication (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki). She holds a degree in Journalism and Mass Media, a Master’s degree in Communication and Culture both from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and is also a qualified translator (member of the Pan-Hellenic Association of Translators). Recently she was awarded a scholarship by the Greek State Grant Authority (ΙΚΥ) for her doctoral studies. Her main research expertise lies in the science of journalism with emphasis on Environmental Journalism (also she is the assistant coordinator at the Summer School in Environmental Journalism and Communication taking place in Chania, Crete). In addition, she researches the field of Regional and Local Press and is interested in new media literacy and media - gender issues.
